Weblog of Jesus Stirs Controversy Among Faithful
Did you hear?? Jesus has now entered the blog world!!
Here’s some of my favorite quotes from the article, they are both funny and poignant:
Pastor Kendrick Villa, well-respected conservative evangelical blogger, believes that Jesus is going too far. In a press release he wrote: “I appreciate what Jesus has done for us. His death is essential to our eternal happiness. But some of his teachings simply detract from the true nature of the Gospel. It pains me to say this, but Jesus is still teaching out of the Law and needs to embrace a Gospel of grace.â€
and
Not all evangelicals are so quick to sideline Jesus. Some find the ethical teachings of Jesus encouraging. At a recent youth-rally, Jeremy Beason–a student organizer for Sojourners Magazine–stated: “Jesus’ teachings are fresh, man. He is so accepting and non-judgmental. His offers a gentle path in a harsh world.â€
When asked his opinion about a recent post in which Jesus tells the inhospitable to “…depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels,†Mr. Beason had no comment.
Here’s a link to Jesus actual blog! Jesus’ Musings
… man you got to love JesusManifesto.com. Their non-satirical stuff is awesome too. – one of my favorite blogs.
One more, you also gotta check out the article on the Amish Emergent church. The photo alone is a hoot.

I do admit to chuckling over the amish article. cutting edge worship with Amish sensibilities. Trying to picture that, especially since I am in the heart of Amish Country! That’s a good one!
Chris, I’m still wounded over the Karen Carpenter comment. Move over dolphins…

Added on January 11th, 2008 at 7:13 pmI’m the satirist behind the article (and fake Jesus blog). I was afraid of coming off as though I spoke for Jesus…that’s why every post from Jesus is simply a quote from Jesus in the Gospels. I endeavored to never put a word in Jesus’ mouth.

Added on January 11th, 2008 at 7:34 pmI got that, Mark. I liked the way these quotes of Jesus have different ways of striking different people, depending upon what our world view is at the time. Seems no one is safe. Neat site.
I think aluminum siding is much funnier, J. Ever see Barry Levinson’s film “Tin Men”? Filmed right here in Bawlmer. It was a riot.

Added on January 11th, 2008 at 11:18 pmHey Mark, welcome!
I really enjoy your stuff. Actually I really liked how you just used straight scripture in the actual ‘Jesus’ Musings’ blog, really hit the point home. I assume that the comments were just plants, although I wouldn’t be all that surprised if they were real… I’ve heard close.
Keep it up man, that stuff needs to be said and you say it in a way that people might actually pay attention to it.

Added on January 12th, 2008 at 1:12 amThanks for the kind words. I usually write “serious” posts, but people seem to notice my satirical posts more. I’ve written three (I’m trying to write one every week or so) and those three have been my most successful posts ever.

Added on January 12th, 2008 at 10:48 pmI really love this article the more I go back and read it and ponder it’s implications. Imagine the audacity of folks commenting and critiquing the very words of God… as if they know better. Reading it in the context that Mark painted, it’s obviously ludicrous. But we all have heard it… and if we are honest with ourselves… have participated at some time in being a critic of Gods absolute and soveriegn Word.
